I understand how challenging it can be when a loved one is diagnosed with a serious illness. In my case, my sister, Sandy West, was diagnosed with ALS in November 2022 at the age of 46. ALS is a fatal and progressive disease that attacks motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. This results in the wasting away of muscle, loss of movement, and eventual paralysis. There is no known cure. Seeing someone dear to you go through the physical and emotional battles of this disease can leave you feeling helpless which is why I decided to organize this run with the help of WilCo Track and Field Club to raise awareness and support those fighting ALS. This run is more than just a physical challenge; By participating, you not only connect with others who understand the impact of ALS but also contribute to funding research and resources necessary to improve the lives of ALS patients, like my sister, Sandy. So, let's join hands and run for the cause, standing in solidarity with those battling ALS.
See you on the run!
